BEADS:

You are responsible for purchasing your own beads.  These can be purchased at South Tampa Trading Co. when you pick up your costume or at Buccaneer Beads (On Martin Luther King near 40th St in Tampa.  Let them know you are with a krewe and they extend a discount).

The amount of beads you will need of course, depends on how many you throw but a general rule is a half to one case per person.  Remember, kids usually throw a lot of beads!

Last but not least, a little information on how to handle beads. We ask that you "string" your beads onto either a leather belt with holes in it (can be bought at Buccaneer Beads, Target, etc) or a chain type "belt" (can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot). To attach the beads to the belt, we use the metal shower curtain hooks (Wal-Mart or bead store has them) and then "string" the beads onto the shower curtain hooks and hook into the belt. Attach the belt to a fabric-type, plastic-clip dog collar which you can then attach to the side of the float rails without scratching them.  The whole bead belt, once strung, can fit into a bead bag (available at the bead store) or duffel bag labeled with your name.

Here is a great video on how to get your beads ready!
